Out to Crack the Prince Of Wales’s
19 Jun 2018
He’s got a good draw and I’m really going to let him use himself in the race. He stayed on and won well in France last year when they went a good clip. He also ran a good race in the Irish Champions Stakes setting decent fractions. I’m confident he’ll run well on Wednesday, and put that Chester run to bed.
Undoubtedly the horse to beat is Cracksman, who won last time but not in the fashion of which we are used to. It was a disappointing run at Epsom, but you’d expect him to be a lot better on a track which will suit that galloping style. We will expect him to be winning easily and he’s a horse who everyone, including myself, looks forward to watching.
The race, despite its size, is not lacking in quality. Derby 3rd Cliffs Of Moher is in there having won already this season. Also Poet’s Word for Sir Michael Stoute is another one who comes here on the back of a win. Including my guy, there’s plenty who could pick up the pieces should Cracksman not be at his best.
Signora Cabello has done nothing wrong in her two starts and won well to win at York latest. She will have an each way chance in the Queen Mary which acts as the opener on Day Two.
In my opinion my ride Arabian Hope shouldn’t be the price she is for the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes. She’s rated quite high and deservedly so based on her Falmouth Stakes third last year on the July Course.
She’s been freshened up and was moving well when I sat on her the other day. I would not be surprised at all to see her go well.
Bless Him knows how to win at Royal Ascot and I’ll certainly be hoping he can repeat last year’s victory in the Royal Hunt Cup.
It’s the first run on turf for Walk In The Sun, a horse I hold in very high regard. It’s a very tough ask to win the Jersey first time on turf but, having said that, he’s unbeaten and is one of the best looking horses you’ll lay your eyes on.
He certainly deserves his place in the race.
