Quiz masters won’t be able to help themselves in future years. Name the fillies who finished 1-2-3 in the 2015 Moyglare Stud Stakes who went on to fill the same three positions in the 2016 QIPCO 1000 Guineasyuszyzbxybrbcwxbvcdqavbwau?

Alice Springs took bronze on each occasion behind stablemates Minding and Ballydoyle.

On the first occasion Alice Springs was not unduly punished (in first-time headgear that she has not worn again) and left the impression there was more in her locker but she gave her all at Newmarket, when having no excuses.

Nobody can argue that she is tough and consistent, with the Guineas being her ninth outing.

Her tenth, in the Poule D’Essai Des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) followed soon after but she could only finish a one-paced seventh behind the unbeaten Le Cressonniere.

She was back to form when a staying-on third in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and then enjoyed her finest hour to date – powering to victory in the Tattersalls 250th Year Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket.

Two more Group 1 wins have swiftly followed, in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown and then Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes back at Newmarket.

Her exploits as a two-year-old include a valuable sales’ race victory at Newmarket, plus a second place in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Turf.
