A high-class two-year-old who won the Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket, beating the well-touted High Celebrity.

She didn’t make her debut at three until June, but proved she had trained on when making all to win the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes by four lengths.

Following defeats over a mile in the Coronation Stakes and the Falmouth Stakes, she stepped up to ten furlongs for the first time in the Qatar Nassau Stakes at Goodwood.

Arabian Queen was once again towards the head of the field and despite Legatissimo running out a ready winner, she stayed on well to finish third.

Few gave her much chance in her next assignment (with the exception of David Elsworth, her trainer), against Golden Horn the Juddmonte International Stakes at York’s Ebor meeting, and she was sent off at 50-1.

However, she was never far away in a slow-run race and gamely held off the Derby winner by a neck.

She stayed in Group 1 company on her next two starts, in the Prix Vermeille and QIPCO British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes, but those races were over a mile and a half and stamina looked an issue.

Arabian Queen began 2016 with a fine second to Usherette in the Group Two Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket.
