Won the Molecomb at Glorious Goodwood as a two-year-old and, famously, would have followed up in the Flying Childers at Doncaster but for swerving late on and dumping his rider on the floor.

Ran a personal best when beaten a neck by Profitable in the 2016 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He started at 33-1 and Charlie Hills, his trainer, was staggered because he didn’t think his charge would enjoy the softish ground.

Cotai Glory won the Group 3 Dubai International Airport World Trophy Stakes at Newbury later in the year but was unable to repeat his heroics in the 2017 King’s Stand Stakes, finishing seventh.

However, he again showed himself to be a class act when third in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York – beating all bar Marsha and Lady Aurelia.
