Fleeting could hardly have run more contrasting races in the fillies’ Classics in 2019.

On her return in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, she trailed home last of the 15 runners, which did not augur well for her prospects in the Investec Oaks at Epsom 26 days later.

However, she was a different proposition with that run under belt over the extra half-mile at Epsom, finishing fast to be a length and a half third behind Anapurna and Pink Dogwood.

Wayne Lordan, her jockey, said: “It was grand. I gave her a chance and she came home well. I am very happy.”

Fleeting had won the Group 2 William Hill May Hill Stakes at Doncaster on her final start as a two-year-old and should continue to make her presence felt at the highest level over middle distances this year.
