High Jinx almost pulled off one of the biggest surprises in the six-year history of the QIPCO British Champions Series when third in the Yorkshire Cupdfxusqrawcdstzacvzqfxdewftffxsxaabvsr – making the running and rallying to be beaten a neck, and the same, behind Dartmouth and Simple Verse.

It would have been some achievement had the nine-year-old got back to the front because, apart from his age, he was having his first run for two years.

Naturally, Tim Easterby, his trainer, was delighted. The gelding, sent off at 40-1, was having his first start for the trainer, having previously been with James Fanshawe.

High Jinx was turning back the clock.

He finished second in the 2012 Doncaster Cup and won the Prix du Cadran in 2014.

It goes without staying that he stays extremely well.
