Martyn Meade has been involved in horses all his life.
He trained his first winner under Rules, over jumps, back in 1972 and in his younger days was a keen polo player and Master of Foxhounds.
Since that initital success he has trained numerous winners under both codes. Having concentrated on Flat racing since the late 1980s, after briefly withdrawing from the sport, he has had multiple stakes winners and in 2019 he enjoyed three Group 1 triumphs.
He also boasts a very impressive strike rate with two-year-olds.
His time at Sefton Lodge marked the beginning of a new era with a commitment to producing top-class winners and in 2019 he enjoyed three Group 1 wins – including Advertise’s success in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.
The subsequent move to a new purpose-built yard at the historic Manton Estate has allowed his team of horses to grow further. He is assisted by his son, Freddie.
