Derby-winning trainer Michael bell has chalked up more than 1500 winners since starting out in 1989.

None, though, have eclipsed Motivator who won the premier Classic at Epsom by five lengths in 2005.

Sariska also shone on the Surrey Downs for him when landing the Oaks in 2009. She also won the  Irish equivalent, while Art Connoisseur took one of Europe’s most prestigious sprints, the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, in the same year.

The same filly also left him in hospital after kicking out.

Bell tasted Champions Series glory with Coolmore Nunthorpe winner Margot Did in 2011 plus consecutive runnings of the Grade 1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes at Woodbine in Canada courtesy of Wigmore Hall in 2011 and 2012.

His biggest star in recent years has been star stayer Big Orange, who won a memorable renewal of the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot in 2017 after successive wins in the Qatar Goodwood Cup in 2015 and 2016.

Bell enjoyed his first success at Royal Ascot since Big Orange in 2020 when The Lir Jet scooped the Norfolk Stakes.
