Alcohol Free began life as a very progressive two year old with bags of talent for all to see.
Her debut win at Newbury in August of 2020 was very impressive, with a comfortable 1 3/4 win and a step up in class was immediately on the cards. That step up came at Salisbury in one of their feature races, the Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes and Alcohol lost nothing in defeat, going down to Happy Romance by 3/4 lenght.
The rise in grade continued, and on just her third run she was plunged in to Group 1 company. She relished it.
The Group 1 task came in the form of the Chevely Park Stakes at Newmarket and was an opportunity for her to show her toughness. Having led for large parts of the race, all challengers came and she saw off all of them, grinding out the win and claiming her first top level victory.
Alcohol Free started her three year old career at Newbury, where her career had began, in the Fred Darling Stakes, and continued her progression and grinding out another gutsy win.
A tilt at QIPCO 1000 Guineas victory didn’t quite go to plan, running a very creditable fifth but it was clear to see connection shad hoped for even more.
That faith was repaid though when Alcohol Free bagged her first QIPCO British Champions Series win at Royal Ascot in the Coronation Stakes under Oisin Murphy. Another top level success for her trainer, Andrew Balding.
