The build-up to the 2020 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, sponsored by QIPCO, revolved around the unbeaten Palace Pier, who started the odds-on favourite.

By contrast, Roseman barely registered a word and went off at 28/1 but plenty were talking about him after he had been beaten a head by The Revenant in the mile showpiece, with Palace Pier more than three lengths adrift in third.

Roseman was running a big personal best, evidently well served by front-running tactics and the return to deep ground.

He had previously made little impact in the Group 1 Prix d’Ispahan at Chantilly, but had run well when fourth in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot on his return.

Unraced at two, Roseman has still had only eight races. Expect to see him in more top mile races in 2021.
