Terebellum twice went close to winning Champions Series races in 2020 and should remain a potent force tin 2021.

She was beaten a head by Circus Maximus in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, having looked the most likely winner for much of the final furlong, and the following month was third in the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket – beaten a neck and the same behind Nazeef and Billesdon Brook.

After her narrow defeat in the former contest, trainer John Gosden said: “She ran a great race. They didn’t go any pace which probably played against her as she gets a mile and a quarter. She hit the front and the other one just came back on the run to the line under a rousing ride.”

The daughter of Sea The Stars was not disgraced, either, when fifth in the Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes back at Headquarters in early October but failed to figure on her final start of the year in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf.

Terebellum has two Group 2 wins to her name and is effective at up to a mile and a quarter on a variety of ground.
